SANTO DOMINGO – During his visit to Santiago, President Luis Abinader met with representatives of the Cibao Housing Developers and Builders Association (Aprocovici), as part of a work agenda that also included meetings with the business, commercial, and construction sectors, as well as with health, energy, water, and infrastructure authorities, to follow up on priority projects and needs of the province and the northern region.
During the meeting with representatives of the Association, the president addressed issues related to housing development, urban growth, and the needs that Santiago faces in terms of housing and planning.
He also met with directors of the Association of Wholesale Provisioners of Santiago (Amaprosan), with whom he exchanged information on matters related to the commercial and productive activity of the city.
Santiago's commitment to economic and social development
The head of state's agenda also included a working lunch with the Santiago Commitment commission, a forum where issues related to the economic and social development of the province were addressed.
The meetings are part of the Government's monitoring agenda for projects and actions aimed at boosting the growth of Santiago and other communities in the Northern region.
Health and energy system monitoring
During the day, Abinader also held meetings with health sector authorities, with whom he discussed issues related to strengthening health services.
Similarly, he led a working session with the Electric Cabinet, in which he followed up on issues related to the energy system and the actions aimed at continuing to strengthen that sector.
Meeting with mayors and members of parliament
The president also met with mayors and members of parliament from the province of Santiago to learn firsthand about the needs of the different municipalities and to follow up on initiatives that require government attention.
Subsequently, he led a meeting with the Water and Construction cabinets, where impactful infrastructure projects and works for Santiago and other locations in the Northern region were reviewed.
An agenda focused on regional development
Abinader's workday will conclude this Tuesday with a private dinner.
The meetings are part of an agenda to monitor the main needs and projects of Santiago and the Northern region, with an emphasis on areas such as housing, commerce, health, energy, water, infrastructure and municipal development.
According to the official agenda, this working session seeks to contribute to the economic and social development of the region and, consequently, to improve the living conditions of its communities.
