President supports further investigations into SeNaSa
SANTO DOMINGO. President Luis Abinader stated this Friday that anyone who has engaged in acts of corruption must face the corresponding consequences before the law, referring to the raids carried out this Friday by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), within the framework of the investigations related to the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa).
During a work visit to Puerto Plata, the president was approached by journalists about the process and stressed that the investigations are under the responsibility of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
“This is a matter that is in the hands of the justice system. But our wish is that it will be addressed and investigated in depth,” Abinader stated.
The president is asking that the corresponding responsibilities be established
The head of state stated that the judicial authorities must move forward with the investigations to determine the facts and establish the corresponding individual responsibilities, always within the procedures established by Dominican legislation.
“Our wish is that everyone who has reasons to be brought to justice be brought to justice; that this serves as an example now and for years to come,” the president said.
Abinader has repeatedly expressed his support for investigations related to the handling of public resources and has argued that anyone found responsible for illegal actions should be held accountable in court.
The Public Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the investigations
The investigation remains under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the institution that will have to determine the circumstances of the events investigated and any potential liabilities that may arise from the process.
The president insisted that it is up to the competent bodies to carry out the necessary procedures and act in accordance with due process and the current institutional framework.
