The architect was recognized in Panama for the design of a residential project developed in Vistacana with an architectural focus and urban value
SANTO DOMINGO.– Dominican architect Yermys Peña was recognized with the ELDI 2026 Gold Award in the Horizontal Housing category for the Paseo Isleño residential project, during the twelfth edition of the Latin American Meeting of Real Estate Developers (ELDI), held recently in Panama.
The award was presented as part of the LADI Awards, a regional recognition that distinguishes real estate projects in Latin America for their design, innovation, planning and urban contribution within the sector.
Paseo Isleño, developed by Construger and designed by Studio YP, a firm led by Peña, was selected after an evaluation by an independent international jury that considered aspects such as the architectural proposal, integration with the environment, construction quality, and differentiation within the residential market. It is located in Vistacana, in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic
The award comes at a time when the regional real estate sector has begun to prioritize projects with greater conceptual identity, sustainability, and more integrated residential experiences, especially within tourist destinations and emerging markets in the Caribbean, according to a press release.
A project focused on design and identity
According to the information presented during the activity, Paseo Isleño was conceived as a residential proposal aimed at combining functionality, contemporary tropical design and long-term heritage value.
The project incorporates open spaces and an architectural style adapted to the climatic conditions of the Caribbean, in a market where more and more developers are opting for differentiated proposals compared to traditional housing models.
Yermys Peña maintained that the recognition validates the importance of architectural design within real estate development. “Paseo Isleño was not conceived as a generic project to compete on price, but as a proposal with its own identity and a long-term vision,” she stated.
Dominican architecture in international settings
The distinction also places Dominican firms within international regional spaces linked to urban development and Latin American architecture, at a time when the Caribbean, and more especially the Dominican Republic, continues to position itself as one of the fastest growing real estate and tourism markets in the region.
The Latin American Meeting of Real Estate Developers (ELDI) brings together developers, investors, architects and representatives of the construction sector from different countries each year to discuss trends related to urban planning, investment and the evolution of the real estate market.
