Why are you a builder?
It's my passion; I discovered it at a very young age. Since I was in school, I would visit family projects, and seeing all the factors involved in the development of a work captivated me.
How do you feel when you finish building a house?
It's incredibly satisfying to have overcome every obstacle we faced in this sector to achieve our goals. A project never ceases to be a part of you; it becomes part of your evolution and the challenge of continuing to grow professionally with new objectives.
How does your career contribute to the sector?
It contributes to urban growth with projects that beautify the surroundings and meet the demand for housing in central areas. Construction is a key sector in our country's economy, being one of the main contributors to GDP (Gross Domestic Product). It drives both local and foreign investment, which in turn strengthens tourism by creating new hotel complexes and increasing accommodation capacity in various destinations.
What challenges do you see in the construction sector?
We have seen a significant increase in the cost of materials and labor. Generally speaking, economic measures are needed to stimulate the sector and make it easier for people to purchase property. It is essential to ensure that mortgage interest rates remain attractive.
What is the current state of the Dominican construction industry?
Currently, the challenge lies in creating incentives for the sector to stimulate real estate acquisition. These incentives should be based on long-term fixed interest rates, the release of reserve requirements, and the creation of an economic environment that fosters confidence and allows for greater monetary stability.
