SANTO DOMINGO.- Six real estate agencies increased their sales by 222.76% this year, compared to 2020, which, although hit by COVID-19, represented a rebound that boosted property sales in the Dominican Republic.
During this year, the indicators released by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) presented the construction sector as one of the leading sectors responsible for the growth of the country's economy.
The data provided by Remax, Keller Williams Dominicana, Premium Real Estate, Mr Home, Hogarium and H and J Real Estate, reconfirm the data.
Remax Metropolitana increased its sales by 287% compared to last year, as indicated in the report sent to the Real Estate Agency by its commercial director, Mélido Marte, and of which we present the graph below.

Keller Williams Dominicana experienced a 282.54% increase in sales compared to 2020, and a 208.42% increase in commissions paid to its salespeople, according to data provided by Regional Director Rodelixa Manzueta. It should be noted that this franchise began operations in 2020, a period in which it only operated for five months.
“We started as a company in 2019 with three salespeople; in 2020 we added one, and this year we are already six. Regarding the results, in 2020 we achieved a 200% growth in transactions, and for 2021 an increase of 500% compared to 2019,” said Leonel De la Cruz, CEO of Hogarium Real Estate.
Mr. Home has maintained steady growth since its founding, and the pandemic did not change either its results or its plans, said Juan Estévez, one of its leaders, who submitted the report, highlighting that in 2020 it increased by more than 50% compared to 2019 and by more than 150% in 2021 compared to 2020.
“The pandemic has been a catalyst for the company's objectives, both in terms of finances and physical structure, systems, and procedures. We have achieved comprehensive and organic growth in all aspects of the company, allowing us to maintain our primary objective of growth and continuous improvement, striving for extraordinary levels of service and customer satisfaction,” the executive explained.
H and J Real Estate reported a 70% increase during 2020 compared to the previous year, while its growth in 2021 was 192% compared to the year the pandemic began, according to data provided by CEO Heissel Ramírez
Premium Real Estate saw a surge in sales during the year the pandemic began, surpassing its 2019 sales figures in just nine months, according to Glauco González, one of its executives. Data shows that transactions have increased by 125% this year compared to 2019.
He noted that one factor that influenced the increase was that the company went from a sales staff of 28 to 62 during the current year.

Central Bank Reports
Since the first quarter of the year, the Monthly Indicator of Economic Activity (IMAE), presented by the BCRD authorities, showed the positive growth experienced by the construction sector, which was positioned as the main economic driver of the country with 24.2% between January and March.
For the first half of the year, the financial institution itself reported an increase of 36.5%, compared to 2020. The latest report released by the governor, Héctor Valdez Albizu, places the construction sector as the second most responsible for boosting the Dominican economy with 25.1%.
