The results for the first eight months of 2026 reflect the importance that both facilities have acquired for the country's maritime tourism.
Through August, Taíno Bay had received 800,680 passengers and maintains a projection of approximately 1.22 million cruise passengers by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Amber Cove recorded 700,578 passengers between January and August, consolidating itself, along with Taíno Bay, as one of the main arrival points for tourist ships to the Dominican Republic.
Greater dynamism for the local economy
The concentration of thousands of tourists in a single day creates opportunities for tour operators, transport companies, restaurants, shops, artisans and service providers.
This flow can also favor the expansion of businesses and the demand for new infrastructure to serve those arriving in the province.
The coordinated operation of Taíno Bay and Amber Cove thus reinforces the role of Puerto Plata within the Caribbean maritime destination circuit and contributes to boosting different segments of its economy.
