SANTO DOMINGO – Sincerity flowed from the moment real estate agent Marisol Shanlatte began speaking about her beginnings in the industry. Her first words led her to a confession that few usually express when sharing their story.

She has, in theory, been working in the real estate market for 10 years. However, she reveals that during her first five years she worked independently, without any methodology, and improvising at every step she took.

She acted in her own way, since she had no formal training. But this changed. When she entered her second phase, which lasted the next five years, she joined a real estate agency, Elite House, where she met someone who would inspire her to do better.

Her leader, as she points out, was Ariel Castillo, who helped her discover her full potential and understand that, with the right preparation, she could develop her skills to become a professional in the field.

And so she did. That guide sparked an awakening in Marisol. Castillo's very nature, which is to inspire and empower, opened her up to a sea of alternatives that, little by little, would shape her into a true real estate advisor.

“I also had colleagues who inspired me with their results, and that made me commit to myself to do professional work. That is to say, I can tell you that as a professional advisor I only have 5 years in the sector,” she stated in an interview with El Inmobiliario.

Shanlatte, born in San Cristóbal, explains her beginnings in the field in more detail. She shared that when she took her first steps in the sector, she perceived it as an easy business, so she only lasted a few months in her first job and launched herself as a freelancer.

Her work, something that fills her with satisfaction

She emphasizes that her work as an agent is much more than just a job, describing it as an "extremely rewarding and enriching" experience.

What she finds most appealing about her work is that, in her daily life, she has the opportunity to interact with countless people and develop the role of "psychologist, lawyer, and even marriage counselor."

“The real estate market is dynamic, that keeps me up-to-date, in learning mode all the time, and also because this career is very attractive from a financial level,” she said.

Shanlatte describes herself as a born entrepreneur. With her heart and soul filled with a visionary essence, she founded the real estate agency “Viviendas 1A”.

Through this agreement, the company envisions forming alliances with other companies in the sector in the coming years, with which it intends to share resources, knowledge and synergies to boost the growth of both parties.

“Currently, I am reinventing myself with accumulated experience, implementing strategies that increase visibility and productivity to continue growing as a company together with the team I lead at my real estate company Viviendas 1A,” he specified.

Through his business, he stated that they market both ready-to-live-in properties and projects under construction, focusing on two key areas of the country: Santo Domingo center and Punta Cana.

About the real estate sector

The real estate advisor highlighted that one of her concerns about the sector is the number of people entering the field without any training, which leads them to "engage in unfair practices due to a lack of ethics and honesty.".

On the other hand, she expressed that, although there are colleagues with human and professional qualities, she perceives a sector very focused on its own interests and objectives, which, for Marisol, creates a scenario with weakened relationships between companies and colleagues.

Continuing to share his views, he expressed that one of the things agents have is their ability to facilitate access to real estate investment, which boosts the economy and contributes to the development of the Dominican Republic.

As a professional, he stated that he is contributing to leaving a legacy for the community he leads, called “CEO Real Estate.” This is an exclusive group of real estate entrepreneurs, united through a collaborative alliance to achieve excellence and productivity.

“This community emerged because I was able to identify that in our profession there is a great need for support in an environment of reliable, professional colleagues committed to ethics,” he commented.

They currently have 19 entrepreneurs, each with their own team and established companies, working collaboratively under a model of mutual support and constant growth.
