The role of the media will be analyzed at the International Summit on Communication and Tourism at Fitur 2026

With this activity, Fitur opens a space that formally recognizes the role of communication as a strategic ally of the industry.

SANTO DOMINGO. – At the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), media representatives will have the opportunity to reflect on the challenges, opportunities, and new narratives of tourism communication, in a global context marked by digitalization, sustainability, and the transformation of destinations.

This summit, which will be part of the official agenda of Fitur 2026, will bring together communication professionals, specialized journalists, tourism marketing managers, public institutions and private sector actors, with the aim of analyzing how the reputation of destinations is built today and what the role of the media is in that process.

According to reports, the meeting will address key issues such as information credibility in the face of content overload, the impact of social media and content creators, crisis management in tourist destinations, and the need for communication aligned with sustainable development models.

With this initiative, Fitur recognizes that communication has become a strategic axis of tourism, as crucial as air connectivity or hotel investment.

In this context, the Dominican Republic stands out as one of the countries with the largest and most consistent media representation at Fitur, a presence that has been maintained regularly over the years.

Each edition of the fair features the participation of Dominican journalists, photojournalists, communicators and digital media, who provide coverage of the country's official agenda, announcements from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and news from the various tourist destinations.

This extensive media representation has been key to amplifying the country's strategic messages, strengthening its international positioning, and supporting the promotion of new destinations, such as Miches, which in recent years has been presented as one of the pillars of growth for Dominican tourism.

The holding of an International Summit on Communication and Tourism coincides with the promotional strategy promoted by the Dominican Republic, where the destination narrative, the diversification of the offer and sustainability occupy a central place.

The active participation of Dominican media in Fitur not only guarantees news coverage, but also contributes to building a unique narrative, from within the country, about its tourism development, its challenges and its opportunities.

With this summit, Fitur opens a space that formally recognizes the role of communication as a strategic ally of tourism, and offers an ideal scenario for countries like the Dominican Republic to continue strengthening their visibility and leadership in the main source markets.
