MONTREAL, CANADA– The Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez Durán, reaffirmed the Dominican Republic's commitment to continue its mission of contributing to the aeronautical development of the region, hand in hand with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Rodríguez Durán stated that both he and the team of men and women, aviation professionals and technicians who accompany him in his management, have assumed the responsibility of maintaining the country as one of the main models of compliance with the standards established by the organization that governs aviation worldwide.
“When President Luis Abinader entrusted us with the task of leading the IDAC, we faced it with the same resolve that we have shown in each of the professional areas in which we have worked, both in the private sector and, on this occasion, in public service,” he added.
These statements were made during his speech at the parallel meeting to the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium, which is taking place in this Canadian city.
Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, expressed his gratitude to the Dominican Republic for the contributions it, as a member state, has made to international civil aviation.
Salazar highlighted that ICAO is currently focused on strengthening its structure through several pillars, including improving organizational culture, promoting leadership, and developing talent.
For his part, Igor Rodríguez thanked the president and secretary general of ICAO, Salvatore Sciacchitano and Juan Carlos Salazar, who highlighted the contributions of the Caribbean country to the region's aeronautical system.
“We will continue working to ensure that our services meet the highest levels of operational safety, as our goal is to take civil aviation to another level,” said the head of the IDAC.
Symposium
The Advanced Air Mobility Symposium 2024 brings together leaders from industry, academia and government representatives to discuss the latest trends in advanced air mobility.
Julio Peña Guzmán, ambassador and permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to ICAO, is also participating in the event, along with the director of Air Navigation, Claudia Roa; Gender Castro, director of Operational Safety Oversight, and Claudio Martínez Turbí, from Communications and Relations.
