More than 100 women participated in the meeting “Healthy Women, Stronger Societies”, which included medical guidance, survivor testimonies and recognition of people and institutions committed to women's health
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Foundation for the Development of Women (FUNPROMUJER) brought together more than 100 women from Verón-Punta Cana, La Ceiba and El Macao in an awareness day on the prevention and early detection of breast cancer, held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the Punta Cana-Macao Energy Consortium Theater (CEPM), within the framework of the Pink October activities.
The meeting, held last Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Punta Cana-Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM) Theater, was held under the motto "Healthy Women, Stronger Societies" and aimed to strengthen the participants' knowledge about taking care of their health and the importance of adopting preventive measures.
The initiative, conceived by the organization's director, Ángela Rivera, was supported by CEPM as the main sponsor. In addition to providing information about the disease, the event fostered a space for sharing experiences, recognizing stories of resilience, and promoting community participation in support of women's well-being.
Specialist provides guidance on breast cancer prevention
As part of the educational program, Dr. Marely Pérez Inirio gave a lecture on the main aspects related to breast cancer prevention, during which she highlighted the importance of regular medical check-ups and early detection.
In that regard, the specialist encouraged the attendees to pay attention to their health and seek professional guidance if they had any concerns. Her participation was recognized by FUNPROMUJER with an award for her career and commitment to women's well-being.
In this way, the day combined health education with awareness messages aimed at fostering a culture of prevention and greater responsibility in health care.

Survivors share their experiences of struggle and hope
On the other hand, one of the most significant moments of the meeting was led by Nancy Rodríguez, who shared her personal experience and conveyed a message of strength, perseverance and hope to the women present.
Her testimony highlighted the value of sharing experiences related to the disease as a way to support others, raise awareness, and offer emotional support to those going through similar situations.
Joanna Patricia Guerrero Rosario, a breast cancer survivor, was also honored in recognition of her courage and resilience.
In the institutional sphere, Soraya Cepeda Vargas, representative of CEPM, also received an award for her support of the initiative and her contribution to the development of actions aimed at promoting women's health.
These awards were part of the foundation's efforts to highlight both the life stories that inspire the community and the commitment of those who contribute to promoting social impact initiatives.
Artistic performances and recreational activities complement the program
In addition to the educational component, the meeting included artistic presentations by Ana Karín, as well as raffles and spaces for integration among the attendees.
These activities added a recreational component to the program and fostered an atmosphere of coexistence, solidarity, and exchange among women from different communities in the province.
Through this combination of medical guidance, testimonials, and integration activities, the initiative sought to go beyond the transmission of information and foster a meeting space where participants could share experiences and strengthen their community ties.
The foundation is committed to raising awareness about women's health
In assessing the scope of the activity, Ángela Rivera highlighted the need to continue promoting actions that facilitate women's access to reliable information about their health and reinforce the importance of prevention as part of individual, family and collective well-being.
The director also highlighted the significance of the motto "Healthy Women, Stronger Societies," which she created, considering that women's health is a fundamental element for strengthening families and developing communities.
In line with this vision, FUNPROMUJER seeks to promote spaces for guidance, education and awareness that contribute to improving knowledge about health care and the importance of seeking professional attention in a timely manner.
With this event, the organization reaffirms its commitment to promoting women's health and developing social initiatives in the province of La Altagracia.
Finally, the organization is committed to maintaining and expanding collaboration with public institutions, social organizations, and communities, with the aim of strengthening prevention, promoting access to health information, and contributing to a culture of care and timely attention among women.
