Minister of Economy outlines reforms needed for the transformation of the Dominican Republic

 SANTO DOMINGO– The Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pavel Isa Contreras, highlighted the country's economic prospects with high economic growth and low inflation in a presentation aimed at business leaders, in which he outlined the reforms necessary for the country's transformation.

Isa Contreras spoke on the topic *“Dominican Republic: Economic Perspectives and Structural Reforms”* in a discussion organized by the National Union of Entrepreneurs (UNE), where she cited the tax reform, social security and water sector reform, as well as the transformation in the electricity sector.

Regarding tax reform, he set the objective of providing the State with the capacity to finance essential services and infrastructure and to guarantee fiscal and macroeconomic sustainability.

Regarding the transformation of the electricity sector, the economist and researcher pointed out that it contributes to the efficient use of energy and fiscal sustainability.

When referring to the social security reform, he mentioned among the objectives ensuring sufficient funding for health services and equal rights, contributing to guaranteeing decent pensions and strengthening social cohesion.
