SANTO DOMINGO- With the purpose of opening opportunities for people who suffer from some motor or cognitive disability, the Banco de Reservas Volunteer Program announced yesterday an alliance with the Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association, the Futurum Educandi Foundation and the Dominican Restaurant Association (Aderes), to launch a job inclusion program.
According to the company owners, during the first pilot phase, the aim is to impact about 20 people, who will first be trained and then placed in internships at various restaurants in the National District, with the possibility of integrating them into the permanent staff of employees.
Tomas Saltory, president of Futurum Educandi and creator of the original idea, explained that the objective is to combat the levels of unemployment that affect that sector of Dominican society.
"We aim to create many independent people who do not suffer from marginalization in the labor sector. It's not that there is exclusion, but there is no inclusion either," Saltory stated.

He explained that the participants were recruited thanks to the work of the National Council for Disability (Conadis).
Noelia García, president of the Banreservas Volunteer Program, highlighted that the implementation of this project not only represents a significant advance in labor inclusion, but also has a positive impact on the families and communities involved.
“This initiative, which marks a milestone in our commitment to socioeconomic development, reinforces the importance of partnerships and collaboration in creating a more equitable future. When we succeed in training diversely skilled professionals, we are transforming our thinking towards inclusion, breaking down stereotypes, and setting precedents that ensure lasting change in our society,” García stated.
