SANTO DOMINGO. – Through a post shared on the social network Instagram, by the accounts movimientojetset and eterno_rubbyperez, a candlelight vigil was called in memory of the victims of the Jet Set tragedy, which occurred in the early morning of April 8, 2025.
According to the published content, the activity is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, where citizens will gather to pay tribute to those affected, as well as express solidarity with their families.
The event will begin at 10:00 pm with the lighting of candles, which will be extinguished at 12:44 am as a symbolic act, since that was the time when the tragedy occurred that left more than 200 dead and around 200 injured
Invitation to Mass
The groups also invited the public to a Mass on Wednesday, April 8th, at 10:00 am and a second Mass at 5:00 pm, presided over by the Coadjutor Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, along with other Catholic Church authorities. The dress code will be black for the families of the deceased and white for the survivors.
The statement emphasizes that the vigil seeks to honor those who lost their lives and to support their loved ones in a space of reflection and respect. It was indicated that the meeting point will be precisely the location where the incident occurred.
