SANTO DOMINGO.– The United States and Iran reached an agreement this Sunday to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, after more than three months of conflict that has disrupted the global economy.
Although the details of the agreement have not yet been released, it has been announced that the signing will take place next Friday, the 19th of this month, in Switzerland.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement with Iran on Sunday via Twitter and said he had authorized the end of the US naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States previously indicated it would relax its blockade of Iranian ports as the strait reopens, and that it would agree to suspend sanctions to allow Iran to sell more of its oil and bolster its ailing economy, according to the AP.
It notes that Iranian state media published the statement from Pakistan, a key mediator, on the agreement, a day after Israel attacked the southern suburbs of Beirut in its attempt to push back the Iranian-backed political-paramilitary group Hezbollah, posing a threat to the discussions that were nearing their end.
“Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon,” Pakistan stressed, adding that mediators will facilitate meetings this week to “lay the groundwork for technical talks.”.
