Monorail cars are being moved during testing

SANTIAGO- The dynamic test of two cars of the Santiago monorail scheduled for yesterday, May 16, consisted of starting the train while in motion, at a speed of between 5 and 15 kilometers per hour, traveling from station E1, located in the Cienfuegos sector, to station E2, in the town of San Lorenzo, in the Santiago Oeste Municipal District, of this Cibao region.

The process of rolling out the monorail units was carried out by the Integrated Transportation System (SIT), which is in charge of putting the mass transit system into operation.

According to one of the technicians working on the monorail's bearing, the journey reached a speed of between 5 and 20 kilometers per hour, which caught the attention of the Cienfuegos community members, who were surprised by the first-ever launch of the collective transport system.

The employee of (SIT), who did not want to reveal his name since he is prohibited from making public statements, told Listín Diario that the monorail test run was 500 meters long.

He explained that the rolling process will be carried out during these days, in order to adjust the entire automated electrical system of the transport system, which is intended to contribute to strengthening traffic in the Heart City.

These tests are being managed by the technical management and with international validations and will be repeated according to the progress of the project, gradually incorporating greater speed and distances.

The monorail will run on a reinforced concrete beam structure on a viaduct that will cross the entire city from Cienfuegos to Beijing.

It will have the capacity to transport 20,000 passengers per hour in each direction and 200,000 passengers per day.
