SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic closed the year 2025 with 19,676,193 passengers transported through all the country's airports, supported by 217,620 air operations, according to official figures from the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC ).
The agency's director general, Igor Rodríguez Durán, highlighted that these results demonstrate the sustained contribution of the aeronautical sector to national economic growth and the confidence of users in air navigation services.
In a press release, the entity explained that the volume of operations and passengers confirms the strengthening of the Dominican aeronautical system, supported by continuous improvements in operational safety, efficiency and technological modernization.
Rodríguez Durán also acknowledged the work of the technical and administrative staff of the aeronautical authority.
“My appreciation to the IDAC staff for the excellent work done throughout the year to guarantee the quality of each process and the safety of air operations,” he said.
The regulatory agency announced that the third C-band Doppler weather radar, located at the Dominican Aeronautical Complex near Las Américas International Airport, will become operational in February . This equipment will be integrated with the radars already installed at Loma Isabel de Torres (Puerto Plata) and Punta Cana, allowing for complete triangulation of meteorological data and total coverage of the national territory.

The aeronautical authority also reported that the equipment to be installed at Cabo Rojo in Pedernales is currently being acquired. Furthermore, the installation of a modern primary and secondary radar system at Cibao International Airport is planned for this year, as part of the efforts to strengthen the operational capacity and safety of Dominican airspace.
