SANTO DOMINGO.– The fight for the medal count at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 enters a new stage this Wednesday, with several disciplines approaching their finals and the Dominican Republic seeking to continue taking advantage of its host status to climb the standings.
At the close of Tuesday's competition, the Dominican Republic had accumulated 48 medals, distributed as ten gold, nine silver and 29 bronze, placing them fifth the overall standings, behind Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela.
Although the gap with the delegations occupying the top positions is still wide, the schedule keeps open numerous opportunities for the country to increase its medal count during the coming days, when several disciplines with a high volume of medals will begin to be defined.

Mexico continues to lead the competition thanks to a solid collective performance, while Colombia retains second place and Cuba and Venezuela maintain a close dispute for third place.
The Dominican Republic, for its part, continues to add medals practically every day, consolidating itself among the most competitive delegations in the competition and maintaining options to move up as the finals progress.
