SANTO DOMINGO – Strengthening tax knowledge before entering the job market can make all the difference in any professional's career. With this in mind, the Dominican Republic's Internal Revenue Service (DGII) announced a series of free virtual training sessions for university students interested in deepening their understanding of tax matters.
The program will be held virtually via Zoom during March 2026, with limited spaces available. The initiative aims to strengthen tax awareness and provide practical tools on how the Dominican tax system works.
Practical training in key areas
The calendar began on March 2nd with the Tax Culture course and continues with essential content such as Taxpayer Duties and Rights, Tax Receipts and Information Submission, Electronic Billing, as well as ITBIS and filling out the IT-1 form.
The agenda also includes specialized training on Income Tax (ISR) for Individuals and Legal Entities, including the completion of forms IR-1 and IR-2, as well as sessions on ISR and ITBIS Withholdings, Other Withholdings and Complementary Remuneration (IR-17), Tax Audit Process and the resources available before the tax administration.
The cycle concludes with topics related to Tax Sanctions and Infractions, Special Tax Regimes, Selective Consumption Tax and the tax obligations of non-profit institutions.
Tax knowledge is not only relevant for accountants or lawyers. Professionals in administration, business, entrepreneurship, and even technical fields are increasingly facing tax responsibilities in the course of their work.
Understanding how taxes work, what formal obligations are, and how to avoid penalties can become a competitive advantage in a job market that demands greater preparation and responsibility.
The sessions will be held in the morning and afternoon between March 2nd and 19th, and those interested can register through the entity's official channels.
With this initiative, the DGII seeks to bring the tax system closer to new generations and foster a more conscious and transparent relationship between taxpayers and tax administration.
