SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close vehicular traffic from Monday, November 13th to Saturday, November 18th, on various structures including overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo, in order to carry out conditioning work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
For this Monday, November 13, 2023, the closures correspond to the overpasses or dry bridges of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Núñez de Cáceres with Independencia and with George Washington, Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela road.
Also, this Monday the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas avenue (entrance to Manoguayabo), Duarte highway with Monumental (entrance to Los Girasoles), the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel, and the Jacobo Majluta bridge over the Isabela river will be closed.
On Tuesday the 14th, work will be carried out on the long tunnel of 27 de Febrero Avenue (between Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln), the overpasses of Luperón Avenue with 30 de Mayo, Churchill with John F. Kennedy (South-West), Kennedy with Churchill (East-South), Charles de Gaulle with the highway to San Isidro and with the Mella highway.
On Wednesday the 15th, there will be closures on the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando, the underpass of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, the tunnel of Ortega y Gasset with UASD, and the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges.
On Thursday the 16th, the closures will affect the overpasses on the Sánchez highway with Independencia (Kilometer 12), the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, with Hermanos Pinzón and with San Martin; the Jacobo Majluta bridges with the entrance to Guaricano, the Ortega y Gasset-UASD Tunnel Control Center, and the Las Américas Tunnel Control Center.
On Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th, the overpasses at Kilometer 13 of the Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, as well as at Kilometer 14, will be closed.
On Friday the 17th, work will be carried out on the overpasses at the Duarte Highway entrance to Los Alcarrizos, the intersection of Padre Castellanos Avenue and Francisco Rosario Sánchez Avenue, the bridge on the 6 de Noviembre Highway, and the overpasses at the intersection of Prolongación 27 and 6 de Noviembre Avenue. Also included are the Mella and Sánchez bridges, and the Sánchez Highway.
On Saturday the 18th, the overpasses of the John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9) and the San Vicente de Paul Avenues with Venezuela Avenue will be closed.
The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) apologizes to the public, especially to drivers who travel through these structures, but reports that the work to be carried out will result in greater efficiency of vehicular traffic.
