Mivhed increases fees for private works inspections

Escarlin Pozo

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed) , through the Directorate of Inspection of Private Works, announced the increase in fees for inspections of private works, as established in an internal memorandum.

The document was signed by the director of this department, engineer Edgar Pellerano, and channeled through the vice minister of Standards, Regulations and Procedures, Francisco Soliman, on May 15 of this year.

“I hereby inform you that, in compliance with the provisions of Act GM2025-001, as of this date, new requests for inspections will be subject to new service fees as indicated in the attached table,” the department notified in writing.

The new rates will be applied to all types of projects, including residential – such as houses and buildings –, housing developments, tourist developments, commercial and mixed-use developments.

The Mivhed will operate fixed prices, according to the characteristics of the construction, from Monday to Friday, with higher prices on Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the latter being the last day of the week.

They specified that if the inspection is not carried out on the stipulated day, the interested parties must request it again and pay for the service again .

“On each visit, a maximum of 30 minutes of waiting time will be allowed if the item is not complete. After this period, if the inspection has not started, it will be postponed and you will have to request and pay for the inspection again,” they explained.

The published prices range from RD$ 5,500 to RD$ 90,000 , depending on the type of evaluation and the magnitude of the project.

So far, El Inmobiliario is seeking a response from the ministry to address the issue in more detail. (Developing story)
