He reported that the bidding process for the construction of the new CJB Ecological Park has already been launched, with an investment of RD$425 million.
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarría, stated yesterday that during the current administration in Ciudad Juan Bosch (CJB), more than 5,400 homes have been built and contracts worth more than 1.895 billion pesos have been awarded.
The official specified that this urban and residential development model went from having 7,660 homes built in 2020, to 13,112 at the end of 2023, for a total of 5,452 housing solutions, thanks to the dynamism that has occurred in the complex due to the support it receives from the Government, a press release highlights.
Santos Echavarría made these statements while leading a meeting with residents in Ciudad Juan Bosch, to whom he presented the progress that has been made, as well as the Government's plans and projects in that residential complex.
The official was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Investment Projects, Camel Curi, who is executing the development plans for that residential area, through the Public Trust for the Construction of Low Cost Housing in the Dominican Republic (VBC RD Trust).

“When we came into government in 2020, we found projects stalled due to a lack of service infrastructure, plots of land with designed projects but no start date, due to a lack of titling, and half-finished projects with completed stages,” said Santos Echavarría, describing the situation in Ciudad Juan Bosch three years ago.
The minister revealed that the project had so many precarious and economic limitations that its line of credit was closed, due to accumulated debt of about RD$4 billion and overdue and legal accounts receivable of more than RD$850 million.
He indicated that, despite these challenges, by the end of 2023 some 3.8 kilometers of electrical network, 17 kilometers of drinking water networks and 15 kilometers of sanitary sewerage had been installed, as part of the coordination carried out with the Ministry of Public Works, the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (EDEEste) and the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (Caasd).
He also reported that the bidding process for the construction of the new CJB Ecological Park has already been launched, with an investment of RD$425 million; which, together with the Road Safety Education Park and the Energy and Mines Park, will complete the three most important theme parks in Greater Santo Domingo.
He highlighted that security has also been reinforced with the implementation of the Citizen Security Plan, for which surveillance cameras were increased, barracks were renovated, the building that will house the Prosecutor's Office was completed, a road signage system was installed, and recently, 50 young students from the community were integrated into security efforts.
Santos Echavarría announced that a tender for the fiber optic network will be launched next May, which will further develop the City, which has the Juan Bosch City Hospital, a Diagnostic and Primary Care Center, a Disability Center, a Senior Citizens Center and People's Pharmacies, educational centers and recreation areas, among other facilities.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Investment Projects, Camel Curi, detailed a series of short and medium-term works that are underway, such as road signage, a drinking water cistern, an internal transport system, the expansion of operations of the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA) and the expansion of the Ciudad Juan Bosch hospital, among others.
Curi noted that various processes are underway for the completion and implementation of a series of sports and recreation facilities, a government office building, a funeral home, several religious temples, and commercial lots that will be developed by the private sector.
The meeting, held at the Renewable Energy Theme Park in Ciudad Juan Bosch, involved an exchange of impressions, questions and answers between both officials and the community leaders attending the meeting.
