SANTO DOMINGO. the closing of the 2025 Tourism Investment Forum, the Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) recognized the Minister of Tourism, David Collado , for the results achieved in the sector during his administration and for the coordination work between the public and private sectors.
The president of ASONAHORES, Juan Bancalari, noted that the country has maintained sustained growth in visitor arrivals, foreign exchange earnings, and foreign direct investment, even within an international context of gradual tourism recovery. He indicated that these results have contributed to consolidating the Dominican Republic's position as one of the most active destinations in the region.
The forum, organized annually by ASONAHORES, focused on the analysis of sports tourism , a segment that the organization and the Ministry of Tourism identify as one of the main diversification opportunities for the coming years. The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, also participated in the event.
Bancalari highlighted that sports tourism allows the destination to expand its offerings and open new spaces for investment in infrastructure and specialized services, that this segment complements the traditional lines of local tourism and can strengthen the sector's long-term growth.
The meeting brought together authorities, business leaders, sports organizations, and national and international experts, with the purpose of defining strategies to boost the country's competitiveness in sports, major events, and associated infrastructure.
