Condominiums and neighborhood associations are being called upon to join the National Population and Housing Census

Regarding security, the population is organizing itself, and some condominiums have already decided to set up a table for census takers so that people can go and register.

SANTO DOMINGO- The director of the (ONE), Miositis Rivas, called on neighborhood associations and those responsible for condominiums to coordinate with those in charge of the Census polygon on how they will receive those registered.

"We're not necessarily talking about opening the door, but about receiving, because what we want is for the information to be handed over so we can really know how many of us there are in the Dominican Republic," Rivas emphasized.

He added that, regarding security, the population is organizing itself and that some condominiums have already decided to set up a table for census takers so that people can register.

He specified that the census began at 100% in the National District, and they will be registering residents of the sectors of Los Ríos, Renacimiento, Mauricio Báez, Cristo Rey, among others, stating that according to projections, all the tablets are expected to be operational by Saturday.

Unlike previous census periods, this one will proceed as normal and will be conducted throughout the country from today, Thursday, until Wednesday, November 23.

Regarding the identification of census takers by the population, President Abinader said that the necessary precautions are being taken and recalled that when the Census was carried out in 2010, crime levels were double what they are today.

He noted that there is a support system in place, in conjunction with the National Police and other state institutions, for protection, where the identifications that the census takers will use have been shown.

The Census will help the country's development

The Census will allow for informed decision-making regarding education, health, and social protection programs. It will also help determine where and how much major infrastructure projects and public investment are needed to improve the quality of life for Dominicans.

Likewise, the Census will also help authorities to know where agricultural production needs support and where greater efforts should be made to employ people seeking work or specific groups such as children, adolescents, young people, women and the elderly.

State Support
: By presidential decree, state agencies will join the efforts of the National Emergency Office (ONE) in providing logistical support.
Their heads have been assigned portions of territory based on their proximity to the affected areas.
