SANTO DOMINGO – For Alenny Garabito, raising children today involves many challenges. He believes that the most important thing is not what society promotes, but rather the upbringing at home and that children develop a strong character, “that they are not influenced by negative external factors, that they know how to choose and decide wherever they are, without being easily swayed.”
For the experienced real estate agent with 24 years of experience in the real estate sector in the country, being a mother represents responsibility, commitment, example, "sometimes being stronger than I want, but thinking that it is to raise a determined woman in the future, with emotional intelligence, with character, and of course, happy and kind.".
It's definitely an emotional rollercoaster, she adds, because we want to see her all the time, but she's not in a glass box. "Mom taught me to be strong, and Aleangi showed me how weak I can be.".
Garabito had her daughter Aleangi at 26. Her offspring is now a 24-year-old professional who works in her mother's company, having recently graduated with a degree in industrial engineering from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC).

Respect, kindness, solidarity and optimism are the main values instilled by the general manager of the firm TimeHomes Inmobiliaria, when she answers for the series “Mothers” of El Inmobiliario, the question about the values on which she bases her maternal training.
According to Garabito, the threats currently endangering the upbringing of children and young people include social media, depression, apathy, lack of commitment, and neglect, among many other issues that surround us. "We are bombarded with too much information, and we must have clear answers to discuss these issues with our children. And at the same time, we must manage and balance our own emotional, personal, and professional lives without negatively impacting our children's lives," she explains.
The best parenting style for Alenny Garabito is one where Mom and Dad can be present and fulfill their roles. “My daughter knows what to say to her dad or to me, and at the same time, we have different ways of speaking when it comes to correcting or caring for her. It's about having love, guidance, joy, and respect,” she emphasizes.
She tells young mothers that everything passes, that no matter the situation, nothing is static. “Your children will grow up, they’ll see what you’ve done for them, be responsible, enjoy them, share, play, travel…because in the blink of an eye they’ll be adults, ahhh, and then they’ll want to correct you (like mine, hahahaha). Get involved in all their tasks and never, ever tire of giving them love and talking to them.”.
“Being a mother is a privilege, let us thank God every day. My respect and admiration go out to those who couldn't have children and adopted or didn't, and to those who have children with different conditions; may God grant them the peace they deserve,” she concludes.
