SANTO DOMINGO – Punta Cana brand continues to bring good news to the Dominican Republic. A growing number of high-impact macro-projects are arriving in the nation's main tourist destination, which currently receives 60% of all visitors to the country.
Adding to the golden age that this area is experiencing is a new milestone: the arrival of the World Trade Center (WTC) Punta Cana , to create the great Caribbean Global District City , an international business corporation, which will be built under the umbrella of Cruise On Land, a tourist resort complex being developed in the municipal district of La Otra Banda, in Higüey, La Altagracia province, and whose investment to date exceeds US$1.2 billion, according to its executives yesterday.
The "cruise on land" project, as it translates to English, will integrate 15 resort-style condo-hotels with 3,768 apartments and 6,446 rooms and a theme park with more than 100 attractions, on a plot of land of around one million square meters.
Yesterday, Thursday, at a press conference, Luis Van Wolfgang Castillo, president and CEO, and Samuel Lozada, CGO and COO of the developer, announced the good news of obtaining the license to operate World Trade Center (WTC) Punta Cana , the iconic building complex that originated in New York City and currently operates in 330 cities and more than 100 countries . This new WTC joins the one built by the Velutini Group on Winston Churchill Avenue.
Cruise On Land representatives explained that the arrival of the WTC will create a comprehensive ecosystem that combines tourism, education, health, business, and residences under standards of planning, innovation, and sustainability.
They reported that from December 15 to 20, a meeting will be held in New York where the financial closing and the delivery of the license for the new development will be formalized, with which the country takes new steps towards its diversification and global expansion.
Carlos Vallderruten, CEO and president of Civis International Group Corporation, the company responsible for advising Cruise On Land on the license management, highlighted the importance of Punta Cana's tourism with such an emblematic business center as the building complex, noting that the region has a consolidated tourism development, but lacked an urban center that strategically integrated services, businesses and residences.
The license also represents an international projection strategy: by adding the WTC brand, the project connects with companies, investors and trade networks around the world, Valderruten said.
What WTC Punta Cana
According to its representatives, WTC Punta Cana will feature a five-star hotel, an international business center, a shopping plaza, a convention center, a villa and apartment complex for retirees, and a medical center to expand health tourism in the country.
With this license, Cruise On Land and Punta Cana join the WTC global network , consolidating the city's profile as an urban-tourist and strategic destination, capable of attracting investment and positioning itself in international markets.
