They sign an agreement to strengthen visa and residency processes for foreigners for investment and business

Through this agreement, investors will be able to submit their applications through the Dominican Republic's Single Window for Investment (VUIRD).

SANTO DOMINGO. -With the aim of promoting foreign investment in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement to coordinate actions that strengthen and expedite the processes related to the issuance and renewal of residence visas for investment, as well as applications for business visas for work purposes.

Through this agreement, investors will be able to submit their applications through the Dominican Republic's Single Window for Investment (VUIRD), in its virtual service modality, with the aim of making it an agile tool to receive the necessary documentation for these services and with personalized follow-up from the beginning to the end of the process by ProDominicana.

The agreement, signed by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and the executive director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, establishes that both institutions will join forces to continue consolidating the country as an attractive and safe destination for foreign direct investment.

“This joint effort lays the foundation for further strengthening our economy. Promoting our nation in international markets is undoubtedly a key strategy for bolstering our productive sectors, generating jobs, and improving the quality of life for Dominicans through foreign investment and export promotion, as established in the second pillar of the Dominican Republic’s foreign policy,” Álvarez stated.

The foreign minister indicated that this agreement exemplifies the value of inter-institutional cooperation and coordinated work between the public and private sectors. “Only through strategic alliances can we continue to foster a favorable environment for investment and project an image of stability, legal certainty, and efficiency in our processes to the world.”.

For her part, Biviana Riveiro Disla, executive director of ProDominicana, stated that this agreement is especially relevant, since the visa and residency service for foreigners for investment and business is an essential component in the process of attracting foreign direct investment to the country. “By facilitating this process through the Single Window for Investment and Residency (VUIRD), we are creating a more favorable environment for international investors to establish themselves and operate in our country more easily,” she indicated.

Furthermore, he asserted that by incorporating the MIREX visa service into the VUIRD, the country is taking a significant step towards simplifying and modernizing the procedures that exhaust investors when investing.

The signing ceremony, held in the Green Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by the Vice Minister for Consular and Migration Affairs, Opinio Díaz; the Chief of Staff, Juan José Portorreal; and other directors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also present from ProDominicana were Marcial Smester, Director of Investment; Sorangel Díaz, Acting Director of Strategic Innovation; Filgia Domínguez, Manager of the Single Window for Investment; Patricia Cano, Manager of Interinstitutional Relations; and Anel Lluberes, Legal Counsel.
