SANTO DOMINGO - The Embassy of Canada, through its Canada Funds for Local Initiatives program, signed an alliance with the Foundation for the Development of Women (FUNPROMUJER) to promote female empowerment in communities in the Eastern region.
The plan, entitled “Free and Strong Women”, aims to promote the autonomy, leadership and integral development of women in vulnerable sectors of that area, offering them training, psychological and legal support, as well as education aimed at expanding their economic and social opportunities.
The launch was attended by the Canadian ambassador, Jacqueline DeLima Baril, and the executive director of FUNPROMUJER, Ángela Rivera, who highlighted the importance of working together for gender equality and social inclusion.
With this initiative, the Embassy of Canada reaffirms its commitment to promoting women's rights and gender equality, while the local organization strengthens its mission to positively transform the lives of hundreds of women through sustainable development projects and personal development programs.
This agreement represents a momentous step towards building a more just, inclusive and equitable society, in which women become agents of change and drivers of progress for their communities, a press release highlights.
