SANTO DOMINGO. - Vice President Raquel Peña swore in Pedro Porfirio Urrutia as the new head of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) this Wednesday, in compliance with Decree No. 2-26 issued by President Luis Abinader.
The ceremony took place in the Vice President's office at the National Palace, where the Vice President wished the new official success and highlighted his professional capabilities as a contribution to institutional strengthening and the development of the country.
Raquel Peña highlighted the importance of efficient, accessible tax management aligned with the State's modernization goals, emphasizing that Urrutia's appointment reflects the Government's vision of continuing to strengthen institutions and citizen trust.
Upon assuming office, Pedro Porfirio Urrutia expressed his commitment to continue contributing to the strengthening of the Dominican State, promoting a tax administration that is closer to taxpayers.
“I hope to provide the country with the services it deserves for the time I am in office, and to maintain a closer relationship with taxpayers,” he said.
Urrutia stated that he will put his experience in fiscal, accounting and financial matters at the service of the country, with the purpose of strengthening the management of the DGII and supporting the sustainability of public finances.
The new director is a certified public accountant and tax expert with extensive experience in tax consulting, auditing, and business structuring. He is a founding partner and director of Moore ULA, a member firm of the Moore Global Network, where he has advised companies and public and private institutions on tax, financial, and organizational matters.
Pedro Porfirio Urrutia takes over as head of the DGII, replacing Luis Valdez, who held the position since 2020.
