President Abinader delivers 1,445 property titles in San Cristóbal

That is why we are already on track to deliver 150,000 titles nationwide, which, if you multiply that by a family of five, impacts more than half a million people,” the president emphasized.

approximately 2,000 more land titles in the San Cristóbal land titling project and will be delivered within the next four months. Adding these to those already granted will bring the total to 5,300 titles most comprehensive regularization programs in the province.

The president emphasized that this handover represents peace and tranquility for Dominican families, guaranteeing the legal security of their homes. “We prohibited two or three opportunists, some of them politically involved, from buying land in these areas and then coming to collect the titles from you. That's over in this administration. Titles are given to those who have lived there for years, according to the established protocol,” he stated.

He explained that with the delivery of the titles, the beneficiaries will be able to access formal banking services , obtain loans with better terms, and improve or expand their homes. “Now anyone can build a second home for a son or daughter, rent it out, or start a small business. Furthermore, from today onward, their properties are worth two or even three times more than they were this morning,” he stated.

The head of state requested the collaboration of neighborhood associations, religious leaders, and community leaders to mediate in cases of conflict or informal situations. “We don't want the titles locked away in safes; we want the titles in the hands of the people, with the name of each beneficiary.”.

He also reminded everyone that no citizen should pay a single cent for this process. “The most you can offer the people at the Technical Titling Unit is a cup of coffee, if you go to their house,” he said to applause, reaffirming his commitment to return in about four months to deliver the new batch of 2,000 additional titles.

Finally, President Abinader urged the beneficiaries to take care of and protect their properties and to seek advice before making any transactions. “Keep your title safe and consult with experienced people to get the most out of it. Congratulations and enjoy your property, which is truly yours from today onward.”

For his part, the executive director of the State Land Titling Technical Unit (Utect), Duarte Méndez, explained that the project covered an area of ​​more than 249,000 square meters, worked in conjunction with the Dominican Agrarian Institute, to guarantee legal security and stability to the owners who today receive their definitive titles.

He highlighted that this effort represents a collective savings of more than 115 million pesos , since the beneficiaries did not have to cover the titling costs, estimated between 120,000 and 140,000 pesos per family.
