SANTO DOMINGO.- The director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) , Jhael Isa , visited the executive vice president of the Metropolitan Bus Services Operating Company (OMSA), Onéximo González , with the purpose of advancing the planning and operational coordination of the Integrated Transportation System (SIT) , in order to establish a comprehensive service plan for Santo Domingo and Santiago .
“We are working together with all the institutions that make up the country's transport and mobility sector to guarantee the integration of the different mobility systems we have for the greater benefit of users,” Isa declared.
He added: “We are at the point where the Santo Domingo Metro, the different cable car lines, and the OMSA buses will form a single system, which entails the technological operation of the system and the unification and implementation of a unified transportation fare,” the official stated after the meeting.
The director of Opret explained that the services and operating institutions of the mobility systems in both Santo Domingo and Santiago will be linked.
“This integration process will allow us to guarantee a quality service to users, with the same fare, reducing transportation costs, which represent up to 25% of the family basket of each Dominican.”.
