DGM announces extension that simplifies entry for tourists

It applies from December 1st.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has extended the measure that facilitates entry into the country for exclusively tourist purposes to citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States of America, England and countries of the European Union, who have valid and current passports.

The provision is included in the Memorandum that continues the second paragraph of Resolution No. DGM-01-2024 of May 31, 2024, a facility that, in the same way, extends to foreigners from other countries who have the corresponding documentation to be able to enter the aforementioned nations.

With this, the DGM reiterates the Dominican government's commitment to promoting international tourism and simplifying immigration processes, according to a press release.

The implementation of this measure will be valid for one year, from December 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026.

The press document explains that, exceptionally, the passport of these citizens will only need to maintain its validity during their stay and departure from the Dominican territory, dispensing with the minimum validity requirement of six (6) months that is usually required.

"With this extension, the General Directorate of Migration seeks to eliminate barriers and ensure a more streamlined entry process for visitors from key source markets," the entity stated.
