SANTO DOMINGO EAST. – On the Malecón of Santo Domingo East, the Ministry of Tourism inaugurated Ritmo de la Costa last Saturday night, a platform that will promote culture, merengue, identity and local tourism in five coastal provinces until November 29.
The new promotional space began in this municipality as a way to enhance its tourism potential, showcasing its monuments, natural attractions, and the new boardwalk with its unparalleled ocean view.
Before a packed audience, and with the presence of Minister David Collado, Toño Rosario gave a spectacular concert of more than two hours on stage with his successful songs from decades of career such as “Dale Vieja Dale”, “Resistiré”, “Alegría”, “El Cuco”, “Beso a Beso”, “Dominicano Soy”, among others.
In this activity, Collado, who went up on stage accompanied by Mayor Dio Astacio, highlighted the positive impact of the reconstruction of this boardwalk, which has served for the recreation of thousands of families.
“We have dedicated ourselves body, soul, mind and heart to recovering the Santo Domingo East boardwalk, and here is the first stage, and we are working on the second stage so that this municipality has a leisure and recreation area for the whole family,” said Minister Collado.
Collado, who expressed his excitement at the large audience that attended the first installment of Ritmo de la Costa, praised the conditions of the residents of Santo Domingo Este, whom he described as honest and hardworking people.
"May God bless your homes, children, families and, above all, illuminate the path for all of you," the Minister of Tourism told a cheering crowd.
“The man (David Collado) built the boardwalk for us and is building another section of it,” Astacio said, adding that the fact that the country has received more than ten million tourists speaks to tireless work.
He noted that Collado has given his all to make the Dominican Republic a true benchmark for world tourism.
Eric Bell was in charge of hosting the show, while the party and energy of merengue kicked off with the folk ballet and the typical ensemble of the Ministry of Tourism.
Ritmo de la Costa, through monthly activations, which will take place on the last Saturday of each month, also seeks to highlight the importance of public spaces and promote social cohesion in each of the destinations involved.
This project aims to significantly impact the provinces of Santo Domingo, La Romana, Samaná, San Cristóbal and María Trinidad Sánchez through a series of tourist and cultural activities.
