SANTO DOMINGO. – Architect Roberto Carvajal Polanco, founder of Carvajal Polanco & Asoc, with a portfolio of over 1,300 designs produced and 46 years of accumulated experience, was awarded this week for his outstanding work in service to Dominican construction.
The professional was awarded by the Dominican Chamber of Construction (CADOCON) within the framework of its 50th anniversary and the 90th of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Federation of the Construction Industry (FIIC), celebrated with the presence of delegations from 18 countries.
This recognition honored his invaluable career in the sector, awarding him in the categories of Architect Designer and Construction Company.
Polanco, who from a very young age made little houses with mud and cardboard, now has more than 1,360 designs to his credit, ranging from residences and apartment and office towers, urbanizations to shopping centers and tourist projects, as he said in an interview with El Inmobiliario.
The renowned architect, with 46 years of experience and a vast career in architectural design, emphasized the importance of architecture in the functionality of spaces and in the well-being of users.

“Architecture influences not only the aesthetic presentation of a building design, but also the functionality of a well-thought-out space, meeting the client's needs, such as having a good layout of rooms, offices, bathrooms, etc., taking into account natural lighting, adequate ventilation, and privacy for each user, among other aspects that enrich a work,” he emphasizes.
His firm designs for a group of construction companies and businesses, citing among them Constructora Melatti, Taurus, Urbana Constructora, Abutero, Constructora CivilTec, Delvisa, Constructora Sagil, Riazul, Constructora e Inmobiliaria AMG, among others.
Cutting-edge architecture
Roberto Carvajal Polanco believes that Dominican architecture is at the forefront, stating that it is both in the architectural elements and in the innovative materials that the country currently has.
He observes that this race of thought is progressing at a giant pace globally, where one only has to look at the buildings constructed in China, Singapore, Dubai and New York, he points out.
At the ceremony, CADOCON also recognized the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader; and paid tribute to important figures in the industry at the national level, including engineers Rafael Bisonó, Pedro Delgado Malagón and Eduardo Estrella, as well as architect Rafael Tomás Hernández.
In addition, Iván Szczech, president of FIIC, was recognized for his leadership in the sector at the continental level.
