Cibao conference on economic outlook

Aprocovici will hold a conference on the economic outlook

SANTO DOMINGO - "Perspectives of an economy without reform: Key challenges of the construction sector" is the conference that the Association of Housing Promoters and Builders of Cibao (APROCOVICI) will hold to close the training cycle of this year.

Industrial engineer and economist Magín Díaz, along with economist Raúl Ovalle, will be the professionals in charge of leading the presentations at the meeting to be held on December 3rd of this year, at 5:30 pm.

The Magna Hall of the Dominican Convention and Culture Center of the UTESA University, in Santiago de los Caballeros, will be the venue that will host representatives of the construction sector of the Heart City, to hear the points of view of two of the most outstanding analysts of the Dominican economy.

According to the post on APROCOVICI's social media, members of the association will have free access to the activity with a limit of two people, while non-members will have to pay the amount of RD$4,000.00 to participate in the event, where both speakers will offer a look at the country's economic prospects.

Who is Magin Díaz?

He has a master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago and a specialization in macroeconomic policies from Harvard University and is an industrial engineer (magna cum laude) from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC).

He also holds master's degrees in macroeconomics, financial economics and a postgraduate degree in applied macroeconomics from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra.

Díaz has completed specialized courses at the universities of Columbia, Manchester, Sao Paulo and at the Centre for Monetary and Financial Studies of the Bank of Spain, as well as at the Centre for Central Banking Studies of the Bank of England.

He has specialized in Fiscal Policy at the International Monetary Fund (IMF); in Macroeconomics for Development at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); and in Models for Poverty and Inequality Assessment at the World Bank, among others.

Who is Raúl Ovalle?

He is an economist with a Master's degree in Applied Macroeconomics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He has received extensive training from institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Central Bank of Brazil, and Columbia University, among others, covering topics such as international economics, monetary policy, and macro-fiscal issues. He was selected by the U.S. Embassy to participate in the prestigious Visiting Leaders Program of the U.S. Department of State.

He is a board member of several Reservas family subsidiaries, including Inversiones & Reservas – Puesto de Bolsa, where he serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and chairs the Risk and Compliance Committees. He worked for the Ministry of Finance, first as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), developing fiscal sustainability assessment models for the Directorate General of Public Credit, where he was later hired and eventually became a senior economist.

Regarding his academic experience, he has taught in the economics department of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), instructing courses such as Macroeconomics I and II, as well as seminars on macro-fiscal topics, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
