SANTO DOMINGO. – According to internal data from the Airbnb platform, by the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, in the Dominican Republic, approximately 45% of all domestic searches on Airbnb will be made by groups, and almost 30% by families, demonstrating the interest in enjoying vacations within the country and boosting local tourism.
Regarding bookings, almost half of the groups are planning a stay of between 2 and 6 nights, while among families, almost 40% are looking for stays of this same duration.
“At Airbnb, we are pleased to see how more and more Dominicans are choosing to explore new regions of their own country, thus helping to diversify the tourism economy and allowing more communities to benefit from local tourism,” commented Carlos Muñoz, Director of Public Policy for Airbnb Central America and the Caribbean.
The trend for the end of the year is group travel among Dominicans. Seniors are also looking to celebrate the end and beginning of the year with vacations, according to internal Airbnb data. Of the searches by Dominicans over 60, more than 50% are for domestic tourism. Seniors tend to opt for longer vacations, with 60% looking for stays of 7 to 28 nights.
The end-of-year festivities are the ideal time to share not only with our loved ones, but also to enjoy all the vacation options that our country offers, reconnect with our roots and share all the rich culture that surrounds us.
