SANTO DOMINGO - In response to the impact of Tropical Storm Melissa on much of the national territory, the National Emergency and Security System 911 activated its Contingency Plan, with the purpose of guaranteeing a coordinated response to the public.
It includes the implementation of preventative protocols and the allocation of additional resources to strengthen key areas of the institution and ensure the continuity of operations during the development of the atmospheric phenomenon.
In this context, the work of the main departments has been directly supervised to ensure the availability of the necessary personnel and equipment, allowing for the continuity of operations and proper coordination with response institutions, according to a press release.
The 911 System all its coordination and video surveillance resources available to the Emergency Operations Center (COE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Division (911 Drones). Similarly, in conjunction with the Military and Police Commission (Comipol) of the Ministry of Public Works, the Mayor's Office of the National District (ADN) , the INTRANT ), and the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT) , the main roads, tunnels, overpasses, and underpasses are monitored in real time to prevent incidents in adverse conditions.
In addition, technical support teams were reinforced to ensure the operability of the strategic radiocommunications continuous and secure communication any eventuality.
The 911 System reiterates that its priority is the safety and well-being of the population , and therefore urges citizens to follow the recommendations of the competent authorities and stay attentive to the official bulletins issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology and the Emergency Operations Center.
