The Channel Tunnel that links France with the United Kingdom is considered one of the longest in the world, with a length of 50 kilometers, although it is a non-trafficable tunnel, only trains can pass through it.
Vehicles wishing to cross it must do so aboard one of the aforementioned trains. It is one of the infrastructure projects ever built by humankind, although nothing comparable to the new tunnel currently under construction that aims to connect India with the United Arab Emirates.
Pharaonic project
This is a monumental, as it involves a tunnel over 1,800 kilometers long, a distance almost as long as that between Madrid and Munich; we are talking about a journey of about 20 hours.
The construction of the pipeline would be financed by both countries , at a cost that is currently incalculable and would be partially financed by the pipeline through which oil and water would be sent from one side to the other.
One thousand kilometers per hour
Naturally, Saudi Arabia would send oil and receive water from India. The project includes the operation of magnetic levitation trains inside its two tunnels, one in each direction, at speeds exceeding 1,000 kilometers per hour , and would also include safety zones for evacuation.
The tunnel would not be excavated underground, but would be a kind of floating that would take advantage of the balance of forces within the water to remain suspended with the help of large floats.
Inside each of the vaults , magnetic levitation trains would circulate ,similar to those already in operation in Asia.
This would be one of the greatest projects ever undertaken by humankind, but Saudi Arabia, the main driving force behind the project, has shown that with money anything is possible, even having ski slopes in the middle of the desert.
