The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated the road reconstruction work in the municipal district of Arroyo Barril, in the province of Samaná, for an amount exceeding 48 million pesos.
The official explained that with the works underway, one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the country is strengthened and directly impacts the community, improving the quality of life of the residents of the areas involved.
“On Thursday we were in Las Terrenas and today we are here in Arroyo Barril, starting these works that will directly impact the living conditions of the residents in this Municipal District and will benefit the development of tourism in this beautiful province of Samaná,” Collado declared.
He insisted that "the time has come for Samaná" and that the Ministry of Tourism is sparing no effort to continue promoting tourism development in that destination.
The work
The project consists of the reconstruction of 12 road axes with a total length of 3.53 kilometers, with a variable width; divided into two zones within the municipal district of Arroyo Barril, in the area of Los Robalos and the airport, for an amount of RD$48,055,847.24.
This reconstruction includes the restoration of the road structure, placement of an asphalt concrete surface layer, as well as the construction of 594 linear meters of concrete curbs and 850 linear meters of gutters.
Likewise, the creation of a stormwater drainage system through the construction of 4 storm drains and 2 filters, in addition to the reconstruction of the existing culvert where required to ensure the durability of the roads to be built.
Likewise, the work includes horizontal signage in reflective thermoplastic paint on the roads.
The streets that will be rebuilt during the work are: Los Cuadrosos, Coven and Sonia.
Also, the Álvaro Lino street, which consists of the intervention of the road axis that connects the Nagua–Samaná highway with the community, with a length of 601.91 linear meters and a second axis of 97.08 linear meters, with a width of 5 meters.
In addition, the streets Moreno, Sandy, La Cancha, as well as Lin, Colasa, Franklin and Nino will be worked on.
During his two-day visit to Samaná, Collado also inaugurated several projects in Cosón, representing an investment of approximately 68 million pesos, and held meetings with hotel owners and other tourism stakeholders in this destination.
