SANTO DOMINGO. - Banco BHD announced the signing of a transaction for the construction of the DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown hotel, a 120-room project that will add to the growing corporate, business and events segment in the eastern part of the country.
The signing ceremony was conducted by the president of the financial institution, Steven Puig, and Jordan Estévez, president of the Dominican business group Bluewave Group, with the participation of Alger Santos and Luis Eduardo Francis, partners of Bluewave Group; Luis Ramón Francis, president of Downtown Punta Cana; executives from Corporate and Business Banking of BHD, as well as representatives of Strategy Partners, the firm that served as financial advisor for Bluewave Group.
Steven Puig, president of BHD, reaffirmed BHD's commitment to tourism. "With the support of the construction of the DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown hotel, we are investing in projects that add value to the national tourism sector, because tourism is one of the pillars that drives the Dominican economy and, at the same time, an engine of development for communities, allowing the integration of an important value chain," said Puig.
On behalf of Bluewave, CEO Jordan Estévez expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement. “This financing agreement is a decisive step in our commitment to actively contribute to strengthening tourism in the Dominican Republic. Banco BHD’s confidence in Bluewave is a recognition of our track record and the way we operate: with strategic vision, structure, and commitment to the country,” Estévez stated.
He emphasized that the DoubleTree by Hilton brand, known for its warm and welcoming hospitality, aims to raise the standard of the hotel experience in downtown Punta Cana, offering travelers 120 rooms, a full-service restaurant, and modern conference and meeting facilities, focusing on the business segment.
With this new project, Banco BHD is contributing to the diversification of the hotel offerings and the development of the tourism ecosystem in the country. “Our reach encompasses the entire tourism sector ecosystem in our country, allowing us to contribute to making this industry increasingly sustainable. Furthermore, the BHD value proposition integrates the products and services of the companies within the BHD Financial Center,” said Ariel Pérez, Vice President of the Tourism and Related Services Sector.
As part of its commitment to boosting Dominican tourism, in 2025 Banco BHD is supporting an investment of over RD$4.2 billion pesos to finance several real estate and hotel development projects, thus reinforcing its value proposition of products and services specialized in tourism.
