They call for the creation of spaces and opportunities that promote the safety and development of women

SANTO DOMINGO. – In the context of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, real estate consultant Kreyski Pedroza and architect Bettina Padilla shared their visions on how the work and urban environment can become an engine of safety, dignity and growth for women.

Pedroza highlighted that the real estate sector has made progress in the integration of women, although she pointed out that it is still necessary to strengthen workplaces to guarantee respect, support and protection.

She explained that companies can play a key role by implementing clear reporting protocols, gender equality training, and support mechanisms that strengthen women's emotional and professional security.

She also indicated that promoting an organizational culture based on respect, discipline, and communication helps to increase the confidence of female employees and reduce risks within the industry.

Safer cities

Architect Bettina Padilla highlighted that urban planning has historically been designed with the male figure , which forces us to rethink and adapt public spaces from an inclusive and protective perspective.

She explained that good lighting, wide sidewalks, and public areas that convey safety are essential elements for women to be able to move around without fear, especially at night.

She also proposed that cities integrate emergency or rapid assistance points for women who find themselves in risky situations while walking through parks, streets or open areas.

The architect added the importance of implementing self-defense programs aimed at young women and adults who study, work, or travel frequently, as a measure that provides autonomy and security.

Opportunities that transform

Both professionals agreed on the need to create productive spaces that promote female entrepreneurship, especially in vulnerable communities where many mothers are heads of household.

Padilla suggested developing plazas, artisan markets, and community centers that serve as platforms for economic, cultural, and educational activities led by women.

She asserted that these projects can boost the local economy and offer real alternatives for women to generate income in a stable, sustainable, and safe manner.

Finally, both real estate consultant Kreyski Pedroza and architect Bettina Padilla stated that building safer, more inclusive environments with greater opportunities is not only vital for the protection of women, but also for the social, urban, and economic development of the country.
