They are promoting a project that is transforming the lives of hundreds of women in the eastern part of the city

The Funpromujer Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being, dignity, and holistic development of Dominican women by initiating a partnership with Canada Funds for Local Initiatives. This joint effort gave rise to the "Free and Strong Women" project, an initiative that, since its launch, has supported and positively impacted more than 600 women in the target area, with the goal of reaching 1,000 beneficiaries by February 2026.

More than a program, “Free and Strong Women” has become a safe space where each woman finds support, a listening ear, and tools to rebuild her life, strengthen her self-esteem, and open doors to new opportunities, according to a press release that adds that through training sessions, professionals from different areas have shared essential knowledge for health, autonomy, and personal well-being.

Among these activities, the press release cites breast cancer prevention talks, financial literacy workshops, and conferences on preventing violence against women. Additionally, Ángela Rivera led the participants in her workshop, “Connecting with Yourself,” a space for reflection and inner reconnection.

The project also focuses on economic empowerment, promoting practical and accessible workshops that allow women to generate their own income and discover talents many didn't know they possessed. These include digital marketing, artisanal soap making, acrylic nails, massage therapy, self-makeup, and other training programs that have sparked dreams and new businesses.

She adds that, aware that emotional well-being is fundamental, Funpromujer and Canada Funds for Local Initiatives have guaranteed psychological support and legal assistance, providing each woman with the support she needs to navigate her processes with dignity, confidence, and hope.

“Free and strong women not only deliver knowledge: they deliver strength, community, and the certainty that every woman has immeasurable value. This alliance continues to transform lives with every talk, every workshop, and every gesture of support, reaffirming that when one woman thrives, the entire community advances,” the statement explains.

She assures that the project will remain active until February 2026, projecting to directly impact about 1,000 women, leaving a legacy of growth, security and new opportunities for dozens of families in the area.
