SANTO DOMINGO. - President Luis Abinader issued decrees 626-25 and 627-25, declaring a state of emergency in 14 provinces and other localities of the national territory, following the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa, to facilitate the necessary purchases and contracts to address the situation.
Decree 626-25 establishes that the damage and impact caused by the natural phenomenon is classified as regional in nature. Meanwhile, Decree 627-25 declares a national emergency for the procurement and contracting of goods, services, and works by institutions involved in the repair, construction, and reconstruction of the damage caused by the atmospheric phenomenon.
The provinces covered by this classification are Barahona, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, National District, San José de Ocoa, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Juan, Azua, Peravia, Pedernales, La Romana, La Vega and Monseñor Nouel, in addition to other localities in the national territory.
Likewise, the institutions enabled through the national emergency exception are the ministries of Public Health and Social Assistance, Education, Agriculture, Interior and Police, Public Works and Communications, Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) , Administrative of the Presidency, Tourism and the National Health Service (SNS).
23 provinces on alert due to trough

The Emergency Operations Center , , placed 23 provinces on alert, including the National District , due to a trough with the prevailing easterly wind and the local orography, which will contribute to increased cloud cover, moderate downpours, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind.
In that regard, the town under red alert is San José de Ocoa . Monte Plata and Peravia are yellow alert .
Meanwhile, in green are Monseñor Nouel, Independencia, Puerto Plata, San Cristóbal, Azua, La Altagracia, Duarte, Bahoruco, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Barahona, La Romana, San Juan, Pedernales, Valverde Mao, San Pedro de Macorís and Santo Domingo (National District).
