The economic impact of occupational health will be a central theme at the Copardom Congress

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Dominican Republic Employers' Confederation (Copardom) will hold its XXIII Congress on Occupational Risk Prevention on October 14 and 15 at the Jaragua Hotel, under the slogan "Safety, Health and Wellbeing!".

The meeting will bring together national and international experts who will address topics such as artificial intelligence applied to workplace safety, technological innovation, worker well-being and risk prevention strategies.

The president of Copardom, Laura Peña Izquierdo, highlighted the importance of the event, noting that, according to the ILO, workplace accidents and illnesses represent approximately 4% of global GDP, while in Latin America and the Caribbean the workplace mortality rate is double that of Europe and North America. Furthermore, the WHO estimates that work-related stress causes 35% of occupational diseases.

The congress seeks to raise awareness about the importance of occupational health as a key factor for business competitiveness, offering a space for debate and exchange of good practices in risk prevention.
