SANTO DOMINGO. - The Dominican Week in Spain (SEDE) will celebrate a new edition from this Monday, October 27th to 30th with a wide program of activities that will highlight the potential of the Dominican Republic as an investment destination, logistics hub and creative benchmark in the region.
The initiative will bring together government authorities, business leaders, representatives of the cultural sector and members of the Dominican diaspora in different venues in the Spanish capital.
The president of SEDE, Manuel García Troncoso, emphasizes that the activity “stems from the commitment to project the Dominican Republic as a strategic and reliable partner for Spain, integrating business, investment and culture under the same vision of shared development.”.
A press release highlights that the inaugural event will take place this Monday, October 27, at the Meliá Fénix Hotel and will pay tribute to the founders of the initiative, while also highlighting the role of the Dominican community in Spain in strengthening bilateral ties.
The agenda will continue with a day dedicated to international markets at the Palacio de Santoña, where business opportunities and the most attractive sectors for Spanish investment in the Dominican Republic will be discussed. Representatives from the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production, and the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor “Ito” Bisonó, will participate. Minister Bisonó will present the country's vision as a strategic platform for North America.
Also on Monday, at the Genoa Financial Club, the meeting “solidity and transparency of the Dominican banking system” will be held, with the participation of Alejandro Fernández, Superintendent of Banks , and representatives of the financial system and VISA Spain, who will discuss the stability and modernization of the sector.
Later, at Casa de América, the book “Our First Settlers” will be presented. This publication was sponsored by the Taíno Cultural Center of Casa del Cordón and Banco Popular Dominicano. Written by a team of authors including Dominican historian Manuel García Arévalo, the book explores the origins of national identity and Taíno heritage.
The press release notes that within the framework of SEDE, the graduation ceremony for super-entrepreneurial women from the Dominican Women Empowerment Network project in Spain will also be held, along with the signing of a strategic alliance between the Directorate of Social Development Supérate, the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.
The week will conclude on October 30 at the Meliá Castilla Hotel with the panel “Connectivity: Ports and airports as catalysts for the Dominican Republic as a logistics hub,” featuring the participation of the Dominican Republic Customs Directorate and prominent figures who will analyze the progress in infrastructure and sustainable logistics.
SEDE Vice President José Maldonado believes that this edition “reflects the maturity reached by the initiative, with a more diverse agenda that combines economic promotion with cultural projection and recognition of the Dominican diaspora, a true bridge between both countries.”.
