Licenses issued in April by MIVHED will contribute more than RD$20 billion to the GDP, the head of the entity assured

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), Carlos Bonilla, reported this week that the state agency issued 136 licenses for construction projects during the month of April through the Single Window for Construction (VUC), which will generate 14,854 direct jobs.

These 136 construction projects, which will be launched with the issuance of the license, will contribute RD$20,052 million to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Dominican Republic, the official assured.

In a press release, it detailed that the province of Santo Domingo was the area in which the most licenses were approved, reaching 140% (with 68 issues), in relation to the number of applications received in April and the number of licenses issued by the VUC.

During the presentation of results at the Vice Ministry of Standards, Regulations and Procedures of MIVED, Minister Carlos Bonilla highlighted the large number of jobs that will be generated with the issuance of the licenses, which he defines as a great driver of the Dominican economy.

Bonilla, accompanied by a team from the Vice Presidency of the Republic, emphasized the importance of treating users of the VUC well, stating that "it is important to make the user feel like a client, that their presence and investment in the country are important, and that we motivate users to continue developing projects, investing in the country, and creating jobs.".

The head of MIVHED also highlighted the reduction in the time for license issuance in April with projects that were approved for first license issuance in just 12 working days, which is the shortest time for this process.

Of the projects, 51% were approved within 1 to 120 working days, while the remaining 49% were issued in more than 120 working days.

Among the improvements that MIVHED presents with the Single Window for Construction is the simplification of procedures related to the issuance of construction licenses and the Internal Real Estate Consultation Unit, an initiative that has increased the viability of receiving files for technical evaluation of projects that were not previously received.

Also, the elimination of receiving and sending documents and plans in physical folders, in addition to the integration of 18 institutions that issue prerequisite documents for building construction licenses that interoperate under the same platform.

Carlos Bonilla was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Standards, Regulations and Procedures, Vivian Reyes; the Vice Minister of Housing and Habitat, Ney García; a team from the Vice Presidency of the Republic and collaborators from MIVHED.
