SANTO DOMINGO.- Reyna Echenique, a lawyer specializing in real estate law with nearly 20 years in the real estate market, recommends that those who enter the real estate business with the sole intention of making money stay away from the profession.
“If you came to this profession just to make money, this is not the career for you, although we all want money,” the veteran real estate advisor explained while sharing the presentation “The DNA of Real Estate” with a group of colleagues from various companies.
The member of the board of directors of the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI) also stressed that to be a real estate agent one must have leadership, have a vocation to help people and guide them to achieve their improvement.
“Real estate agents like challenges, because every sale is a challenge. We are a control tower, and when a client calls you, that's your first sale; they're buying from you,” Echenique explained to more than 30 attendees at the meeting held by a group of small real estate agencies with the AEI.
The real estate consultant explained the philosophy of being, doing, and having, after urging the agents to explore and enhance their qualities. “Know yourself, see your strengths and weaknesses; we all have competitive advantages, and we must delve into them to do better business.”.
Furthermore, he advised real estate agents to identify what they can contribute to the real estate sector. “We want to define others, not ourselves.”.
To be a good real estate agent, Reyna Echenique, CEO of Echenique Group, cites six key points:
-Constancy
-Discipline
-Organization
-Optimism
-Enthusiastic
-Knowing how to listen
“This profession is about relationships, not transactions,” he states, after urging agents to invest in themselves and change their mindset in light of market evolution.
“Integrate the area where you sell into your life. Know your product; people speak better about what they know: your company, your inventory, your area. Know your customer, find out what they like, their preferences,” Echenique recommended.
