Punta Cana will bring together experts and authorities to discuss sanitation, water and hygiene in the region
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Dominican Republic will host the VII Latin American Sanitation Conference (LatinoSan 2026) from June 2 to 4, considered the main regional event dedicated to the debate on water, sanitation and hygiene in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The information was released through the Presidency, which highlighted that this will be the first time the conference has been held in a Caribbean country since its creation in 2007.
The event will bring together government authorities, experts, academics, international organizations and representatives of civil society in Punta Cana to discuss innovative solutions and strategies aimed at universal and equitable access to basic sanitation.
Under the theme “Innovation, inclusion and resilience: sanitation that drives health, equity and sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean”, the conference will address topics related to urban and rural sanitation, technological and social innovation, financing, governance, sustainability and the blue economy.
According to official information, one of the central themes will be the impact of sanitation on public health and sustainable development, in a regional context marked by access gaps and territorial inequalities.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Public Health and the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), with support from the Inter-American Development Bank. The conference will be held at the Barceló Bávaro Palace.
Among the confirmed authorities are the Minister of Public Health, Víctor Atallah, and the executive director of Inapa, Wellington Arnaud.
