SANTO DOMINGO . The RD Vial Trust , in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) , announced that it launched the national program “Clean Roads” , an initiative that seeks to raise the standards of safety, functionality and aesthetics on the country's main roads.
This program's central focus is not only keeping roads free of solid waste , but also restoring the road environment, optimizing safety , and actively contributing to environmental preservation , according to a press release.
Technology at the service of road maintenance
The "Clean Roads" program includes the implementation of automated sweeping and state-of-the-art specialized machinery for the efficient cleaning of the affected road sections . These actions will be rolled out progressively along strategic corridors such as the Duarte Highway, Las Américas Highway, November 6th Highway, the Santo Domingo ring road, the Santiago ring road , and the recently inaugurated Baní ring road , among others.
This equipment will allow for faster and safer workdays , with minimal exposure of operating personnel, while reducing emissions of dust and polluting particles, as well as extending the useful life of the tracks .
Sideline intervention: safety, order and prevention
The plan includes a comprehensive roadside improvement component encompassing brush clearing technical shrub pruning ditch cleaning slope stabilization , and the removal of illegal dumpsites . These interventions significantly improve road visibility flood prevention , and create a tidy environment that enhances the travel experience.
