President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Caño del Yuti tourist and fishing pier this Wednesday, located in the community of the same name, in the province of Montecristi , as part of the National Fishing Pier Plan implemented by the Government, through the Dominican Port Authority .
The project had an investment exceeding RD$48 million and directly benefits fishermen, community members, and visitors in the Northern region.
This pier represents a direct boost to fishing activities and local economic development , benefiting dozens of families who depend on the sea as their main source of livelihood.
The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodríguez , stated that “this tourist and fishing pier in Caño del Yuti, the 18th we have delivered during our administration, represents much more than just a structure. It is a direct commitment to local development, to boosting tourism, and above all, to the well-being of our fishermen, who now have dignified conditions to go out to sea with greater safety and peace of mind,” he affirmed.

The project includes a main pier of 184 m² and four other secondary piers for tourist and fishing activities.
With this latest addition, the National Fishing Pier Plan continues its expansion. Piers have already been inaugurated in Boca Chica , Santo Domingo province; Boca de Yuma , a municipal district within the municipality of San Rafael del Yuma, La Altagracia province; two piers in Luperón Cañitas pier , in the Elupina Cordero municipal district, Hato Mayor province .
In addition to Cayo Yuti, work has been carried out on docks in La Yeguada and Asfalto, in Miches, Sabana de la Mar; again in Boca de Yuma ; La Caleta, in La Romana; Salinas , in Peravia; Palenque, in San Cristóbal; Cabeza de Toro , in Punta Cana; Cabrera , Río San Juan; the public dock of Santa Bárbara de Samaná and the fishing dock of Sánchez .
With this project, the Government reiterates its commitment to continue strengthening coastal infrastructure as part of a comprehensive vision to support the fishing, tourism and commercial throughout the country.
