ONE clarifies document about “alleged pollsters” is not official

SANTO DOMINGO – The National Statistics Office (ONE) clarified that the document circulating on social media and digital platforms regarding “alleged pollsters” does not belong to any official statistical operation. The institution stated: “This document does not correspond to any official statistical operation currently underway in the Dominican Republic.”

The agency explained in a statement that it has not issued any warning similar to the one appearing in the viral document and called on the public to avoid spreading unverified material. "To date, we have not received any reports indicating similar events in the country," the ONE stated, affirming that the information circulating is not endorsed by them.

The institution emphasized that it maintains strict processes in all its fieldwork and that any alerts issued outside of its official channels are invalid. " Currently, the only statistical operation underway in the field is the collection of Building Offers ," the ONE clarified, reiterating that any communication other than this does not originate from the institution.

The agency also reaffirmed that all its operational staff are properly identified . “Our census takers and technical staff have credentials and verification mechanisms that citizens can request at any time,” the entity stated.

In its message to the public, the ONE stressed the importance of always verifying the authenticity of information before sharing it. “We urge citizens to confirm any announcement through our official channels to prevent the spread of false or unauthorized content,” it stated.

Finally, the institution reiterated its commitment to transparency and clarity in its statistical processes. “We work to guarantee reliable information, and it is essential that the public receives verified data from our official channels,” it concluded.

In context

The ONE's clarification comes after a document circulated on social media accompanied by warnings about "alleged pollsters" who would be visiting homes in different parts of the country.

Due to the viral nature of the content and the doubts it generated among users, the institution decided to issue its statement to confirm that said material is not official, is not part of its processes, and is not linked to any current statistical operation.
